Night tambans smell so bad it stinks your hands.

Last night when Toh ask me to jig for Night tambans with him , but i don't have the hooks and weight for it. Too long didn't crazy to fish for tambans already since we mainly used other bait fishes. So i went to buy the stuffs then after work i drive to Bedok Jetty. When reached i faster set up my jigging rod and start when Toh just reach after 10 mins. Try a spot for 5 mins not even a guppy so i changed to a spot then just few sec kill 2 birds with 1 stone. haha... after that Toh help to bring my stuff along and we start jigging for our tambans, within 30 mins we got 30 over fishes then Zhiming came along. After that we jigging non stop cos the fishes got hooked so easily we don't want to waste the chance as can be keep as baits for next trip fishing. All size about 8cm long quite big. After that we went for a short fishing at other place then pack up. After reaching home, Toh sms me that we caught 71 tambans and missed almost a dozen of it.. Thats was the most tambans i caught with my friends so far. Haha!

Hello everybody, Very long didn't update due to overload of work from us.. Now almost everywhere there's more "No Fishing" signs than fishing spots. Haiz so sad.... All those gd spots slowly begin to extinct from us, either to build Dam or Park Connector... Anyway we have completed our "Kim Bak Lor" Mission which we are very Happy and proud of it. The only mission left is to catch Monster Stingray which we lost many battles. Everytime we lost the giant ray, we upgrade our equipments and the same lost our money buying all those fishing stuffs. Haha~!
Anyway these pictures will tell u the story and meeting more kakis at the same time too.. Hope we still can get those biggies back to our hands soon. Tight lines to everykakis! :0)

Fishing site are getting lesser and lesser. thanks to those pollution and some other that will be developed for recreation. But our busy working life really stop us from fishing. But due to some "itchiness hands" of us, we manage to dug in some free time to fish. a 4 hour fishing trip also can makes us happy for a very long time. these are the recent catch report and some big games hooks up and scenery of those memorable fishing trips we had. the fun and quarrel over a stupid barracuda. thanks to the stupid uncle. see him one time beat him one time.

Yes, This the tkk Siglap Fishing Gilas. Looong Time didn't update this Blog liaoz.... Coz all of us were busy work and work. Singapore really is only a working country.... And Fishing Spots getting less & less.Another 10 years i think all beaches or jetty cannot fish anymore. Sianzzz.... Most of all to the fellows who did it (Please Do Not Throw Litters like plastic bags or chemicals that polluting the Sea) This is the last few trips together we had got our catches so far( somemore photos with kai and toh i didn't get yet)

Actually shouldn't have post this new thread but due to kel who wanna see the pic, i shall make this post officially as part of tkk.

Was having a bad time in fishing due to overcrowding and lack of casting spot at the lighthouse. therefore toh had enough. he change his sinker into float. he make a cast and went staring at the scenery or even staring into space. until his friend told him" Hon your float is gone, got fish." Toh still can dilly dally and say "sure or not" then toh pick up his rod and immediately feel the vibration from the sea monster below. then he tried to reel in but this monster managed to swim fast which i can hear those screeching sound coming out from the reel. So toh tried to pump the rod and play tug o war with the fish. but the fish managed to hide underneath the rock and it was stuck . I can see the float but where is the fish? So toh waited and pump and waited and pump the rod. In the end, the line loosen and toh managed to reel in this beauty fish out from the sea. This fish was no match for my newly bought DAIWA Jupiter 12" rod. weight???? less than 2 kg but who cares, the fish is mine to eat. What a wonderful day. And what a beautiful fish.

A good learning trip

Kel and Toh went to con wire for night fishing. Due to the tide between low and high which are 0.3m difference. So, reach there by 1am, set up and started casting. Using sarong, sandworm, live prawn and sotong. Kel even hope to catch a stingray which might have 3 hooks on his mouth.

Sarong is a very good bait for catfish which Toh successfully catch at least a small one in every trip. But in this trip, he didn't catch any at all. The place was so quiet, the moon is there and no wind but yet no bite. so cast after cast for another few hour. even the sarong was still intact on the hook. Damn it. so around 5am they left the place for lighthouse.

So toh and kel reach there. due to the carpark was closed, toh had to park his truck at another carpark which was damn expensive. so kel had to walk in by himself while toh park his truck. after toh park his truck, he walk to the lighthouse and realise kel wasn't there. so toh kept shouting for kel. thought he might fell into the sea but he saw kel headlight and realise he went to the wrong place. he went into the restaurant area which had fence so toh had to bring him to the correct path.

So so without hestitation, we start casting and around 7am, other fishermen came. so we share the spot together. while toh park his car at the free parking area. so toh came back and saw kel pointing to the sea. and when i look at it, looks like a group of chermins trying to eat a group of tamban. The uncle says looks like a group of giant travelly trying to eat the tambans. it was around 50m away from us. so the uncle cast of lures but to chance at all.

So we start casting and casting. even the uncle says we use live prawn got chance. then suddenly, 1 uncle was playing with handline pull out a grouper. toh and kel got a shock. the uncle was actually luring for small fish but a 2kg grouper came out. So toh quickly change his sinker into float. and kept on casting around the rock but to no avail. then toh pass the rock to kel and he spend around 30min playing with the float until he give up. an uncle was looking for tamban using his tamban hook but upcame a selar. he can still says he is trying to fish for tamban but yet the wrong fish came out. and he says jokingly that i thought tamban is so heavy. and another angle uncle came so total there are 5 fishermen over there including us. and the tamban came swimming pass. the uncle managed to catch lots and lots of tamban. at this time, toh saw the uncle rod is moving and he shouted to the uncle that got fish. the uncle look around and he say no fish then he pull abit and he say got fish. then he pull and pull. it was a todak. The funny thing is as todak teeths are sharp, he took a pipe and stuff it around it's mouth. and the uncle continue to catch tamban

the uncle is a very nice person. he even offer us to use the tamban. but i rejected it cause toh can see kel already very tired and the words "I want to go home" inscribe on his forehead. So toh just tried to use the available prawns he have just to finish up the bait. and other uncle took a tamban from him and he start casting. then he saw another todak. he ask kel and toh whether we want t catch todak. toh say ok. so he prepare leader and cast out. then the todak got hook on. he pass the rod to us and tell us to play wit hit since we have nothing to do. Was that meant to be an insult?? so i start to play with the todak and then i feel insulted and pass the rod to kel. So kel starting to fight with the todak. At this time, the uncle teach us to adjust the tension whether pull or loosen the line when fighting the fish. Ok noted. then when kel caught the fish, the uncle also tell me to take photo of kel with the fish. then after that, he keep the fish. then he took another prawn shell and cast into the sea. within 2 seconds, we can hear the line screeching sound from his reel. another hook on!!! then he left it there but this todak was lucky. it ran away.

So the uncle went back t o pull his line with the tamban on. he say it was very heavy and he pull and pull saying it was rubbish. but another uncle say it was stingray. so they kept arguing until when the rubbish surfaced, they just kept quiet and remedy the hook. so the uncle started to cast out the tamban again. this is quite funny as we know there are limited space at the lighthouse, the uncle cast out line line over the lighthouse andthen he place his rod there. then he continuse to cast for tamban. at this time, his tamban rod got a huge pull. he say die. the pull is heavy but yet the hook is only for tamban. and the hook snapped eventually.

then he saw his rod shaking and he mumble to himself saying faster bite and faster bite. then we hear the line scrreching out from the reel and he fastest rush to his rod and pull it. then he say the fish is gone. he start to cast pull the line and the fish is still there. so he started to fight with the stingray and immediately got subdued in 5 min. kel and toh was looking at each other with a fcuked up face. no catch at all. the uncle again offer us the tamban but we have already started to packed up. we offer them our remaining live prawns and then we go home. they also packing up soon anyway. while packing up, the uncle teaches us about casting, baits and catching sotong. there we left the place.

And so to summaries, the fish was not caught by us. it was a total lie to Kai who wants to know the catch. sorry kai...... no luck in this trip

Thanks to our gianess of fishing, here we go again to con wire... another boring trip with 8 small catfish caught without fight and a dunno dunno what fish caught by Kai. this fish will be carefully examined and researched by Kai. The first talk of the day was after toh woke up for a 2 hr sleep, he told kai to pack up then suddenly, kai abu rod got a strike. kai then strikes back and toh was preparing for the lip grip. But once the fish lands surface on the rock, toh immediately put the lip grip back into the tacle box. Why? because it was an eel. And so kai had to retie another cable rig.

But finally the talk of the day was when we again was preparing to use up the last piece of live prawn, Toh saw Kai rod was bending and Kai strike immediately as he was the nearest. After pulling, we can see and hear the reel turning. this big fish kept pulling back. Actually we know it was a stingray and kai even say he might lose this fight. but still, we tried our best to win this match.

So kai kept reeling in and play tug o war with it and toh had problem walking on the stone. but in the end the line snapped and that's it. kai is so tired and even his hand are shaking.

Mission pothole

After to Toh hectic weeks over, his hand has never before been so itchy. So Toh and Kai made a trip to pothole. Why pothole? because Toh truck almost deep into a very big pothole. But anyway, let's us start from the beginning.

Thanks to Gary which led us to this site... As the KBL season is ending, or maybe coming, the 2 of us went to hunt for this wild fish which is the first on our KOS list. But anyway, reach the place, looks decent and off we go, started out casting then Kai bought his new weapon, ABU ROCKET 6500 CS. and he started out good and steady. And so, he was lucky that he didn't managed to eat any fried bee hoon thanks to Gary. And so cast after cast and yet nothing happen. Until Toh caught a Duri. looks good and table size but too bad we cannot or dunno how to eat. And so we unhook the fish and set it free. The funny thing is that when we try to unhook the Duri, it came out a duck quacking sound which makes us laugh.

The second thing is that Kai and Toh tried luring and unfortunately Kai lure got stuck in the water. So Toh though since the the water is so low and he went into the water but infact the water can reach up to shoulder level. Thanks to Kai for keeping Toh stuff. But in the end toh was soaking wet.

Then we saw some small fishes jumping in groups. So toh tried to cast over to that fishes as he thinks if there are bait fish, there will be big fish. But toh cast was around 3meters near the bait fish. In the end, and yet surprisingly the bait fish got hook on to Toh rod and kai was the first to react. And so Kai suggest we use the bait fish also known as swa chiam as bait. But toh was so scared of it imagining skining of cutting your own flesh alive. So Kai left the fish to die then fillet. Looks nice on his first filleting attempt. And set off continue fishing. And so another 2 catfish were caught and we call it a day after heavy rain pouring onto us which made us soaking wet.

Lastly, Toh and kai were about to leave this place to where tha main road are, a 10 wheel truck blocking his way. Being a good citizen, toh reverse his truck but without knowing there a pot hole, the truck fell deep into it. Thanks to Kai who mamaged to pluck himself out of the pot hole and assist the uncle. if not mToh truck would have been stuck forever.

Fun trip with Hong at Lighthouse

As Kel gotta work and can't go fishing, Toh managed to contact Hong and surprisingly he agreed to go fishing with us. As planned, were supposed to go to Con-wire but Kai check the wind and tide, he say it is not a good day to go there. So we look for a place using Kai street directory. And we finally agreed agreed on Lighthouse. Why? it was a windy but yet sunny afternoon. We need to look for a southern shore to block the northern wind.

The next day, Toh went to Changi V to grab the bait then off he went to fetch Hong and Kai. Once we reach that place, we had a hard time walking because of the bushes that are blocking the path and the rocky path with many holes. But still, nothing can stop us from fishing. So we reached the destination. There's an uncle there fishing also so we start to fix our rod and cast etc. Hong help Toh to fix the rod while Kai need to fix 2 rod. Then Toh and Hong saw the uncle rod is bending and they thought the line is stuck. Then being a good citizen of Singapore, we went to help the uncle. But as we reach to the uncle who is already goes down the breakwater to get his rod fix, Toh and Hong saw a very big fish mouth. Toh was wondering what was that, and as the uncle trying to get the fish unhook, It was a grouper. WOW around 5kg grouper. The body is so beautiful. Too bad no picture.

As the uncle hesitate to bring the fish up the breakwater, he do not know what to do. 1 hand holding the rod, another hand holding the fish. Luckily, Toh were there and he managed to help him to hold the rod while the uncle unhook the fish. After he managed to unhook the fish, he hug the fish with both his hand while the fish tries to struggle. He tries to pass the fish to Toh but Toh was holding the rod. Again, Toh managed to rest the rod on the Rock, and help him to carry the fish up the rock. But Toh is acared of the fish and he rest the fish on the rock and step on it lightly to prevent the fish from running away. And the whole incident ends as the uncle managed to retrieve his rod and the fish.

Toh had an idea. He was thinking of stealing the uncle fishing rather than fishing for fishing. Or we thought the lighthouse was a cockpit of a gundam.... well haha we had nothing to do anyway. Then Kai managed to start surf casting. Then withing 10 min from his first cast, His rod started to shake. So he took a strike and start to reel in. He say got fish like no feeling like that. then he reel and reel. That when Toh rush to the tackle box to get their secret weapon. the "LIP GRIP". So Toh goes down the rock and managed to grip the lip of the fish and then he pass the fish to Kai and the fish was subdued within a minute. Although it was a catfish, but the catfish is the biggest we ever caught. That kai catch and that's why we name him the "king of catfish". HAHA.... well anyway, we do not eat catfish, we give it to the uncle who caught the grouper. As the uncle had no plastic bag for the catfish, Toh kindly went to his truck and grab some plastic bag for the uncle but yet the plastic bag blown away and landed on the sea. Damn it. wasted. Shouldn't pass him the plastic bag. Then after awhile, his styrofoam box with air pump flew away. He tries to retrieve the box by casting his rod again and again. Kai and Toh tries to help him but the uncle gave them no chance to cast. But to Toh, so what if the box is gone, the uncle had a big grouper to bring home.

Then there were a couple came in and fish. We call them Mr and Mrs Lao Fu Zi because they look like 1. But they look so unfriendly in the beginning and cast their rod to our side. Ok nvm we endure. But as time goes on, the grouper uncle had no bait left and started to pack up. So all the angler cluster at the lighthouse to fish. The lady lao fu zi had a hard time fishing as she kept on getting a stuck. But the most funny part is after a cast, within a minute, she got a 1kg grouper. She pulled the grouper out of the sea and the fish line and the grouper flew and landed on the rock. Even the uncle was stunted, shocked and surprised as the fish almost hit him.

Then another angler came in where he came with only a few dead prawn. So he cut the prawn and casting for small fish as bait. He also look unfriendly but in the end, all the angler are good friends. After a few cast, the guy caught a few samll fish which he use it for his long rod surf casting. While he tries to catch some bait, he caught a grouper so small around the size of a guy thumb. Haha... Even he look at us and also laugh. Then he went to the end of the Lighthouse and start to cast. As he was very near the couple, they started chit chatting. The lady Lao fu zi kept on talking to the guy. While we were talking the Uncle lao fu zi looks jealous. It's like a scandal scene. But the most funny thing is the lady walk pass Hong and she ask Hong' Looking at the aeroplane?" Then Hong got a shocked and he say yes. Haha then Kai told Toh, Hong is also the 3rd party.

But finally, we start packing up as we feel a bit of rain water. Our mission to show off our fish to kel has failed. Thought of going to Sheng Siong to buy fish and show off to Kel. But in the end, we show 3 roasted pork to him instead.

Another con-wire trip

Since Kai loves this spot so much, and Kel looks jealous by Kai photo, Ok this trip was planned and was suppose to do a afternoon fishing. But the tide timing looks indecent and we planned for a night till day fishing. So Kel and Kai got new rod, new reel, just like Chinese new year. Have to wear new clothes.

But anyway, everything was pack and ready to move out. Reach the destination 1 hr late and Kel start casting immediately. He was so fast that Kai and toh thought he tie his leader at home but no he tie on the spot once he reached the place. So fast. And so fishing begun..... kel had a rod bend and he strike it... he missed ok and there was a time when 3 of our rod start shaking. Maybe the strong wave but that is the fun time of this trip. then around 3 hours later, Kel strike his rod and we can hear the tension caused by his reel. It was definitely a big fish. The fish kept pulling and pulling and suddenly, the line snapped. Damn it thanks to the con wire. But its ok. in terms of fishing, is whether you defeated the fish or you got busted by the fish. But of course, that was the talk of the day.

And fishing goes on. Kai Abu rod got a few shake at times but nothing was caught. Might be the crab. then near sunrise, strong winds start blowing and the waves getting bigger and rough. The waves causes our rod to shake. While holding our rod, we can even feel the vibration of the wind. I think thats about it as it was another boring trip. Damn the wind.... Dman the waves...

Recce reservoir Failed

Kel told Toh that he dun mind go for fresh water fishing. Ok so Toh goes to upper seletar reservoir to recce. That play was so dark, windy and lots of lover couples. Toh was the only guy without a girl. So shameful and he was along the dark footway looking for fishing spot while the couples there making out.

Ok so Toh got out of that place immediately since he can't find a spot and so Toh went to seletar dam to look for spot. He bypass a jetty and ask the police whether the area can do fishing. The police also dunno whether the place can fish and ask his comrade. And they say yes this place can fish. So Toh walk towards the jetty and looks at a few uncles doing net fishing. They caught around 4 to 5 big crabs with crawls bigger than their bodies. WOW it looks juicy and nice. Even the police came by and looks at the uncle tying the crab.

This is the spot.... Toh talking to himself and he and Kel went to this spot aroun 12mn. But after a few cast, a guy came and tie his boat, scolded us for fishing here as the weight might spoiled his propeller. Dman it spoil our mood. So we set off to punggol and fish. Another boring trip as there is no fish but only full of mosquitoes. And so we pack up around 6am and the talk of the day is we saw a dog swims all the way from Punggol beach to coney island. Wow coney island was so far, around 500m away. We can even see where the dog is.... END

A surprised kaki

A fishing trip was planned, Punggol. And guess who? it was Jianhong who agreed to go fishing with us. WoW!!! What happen? Is he boed or is he sad??? no one knows well anyway, we had a fun time chit chatting instead of fishing. And Kel caught a plastic bag. The funny thing is he had a hard time fighting the plastic bag and he say the fish is very heavy. Well, everything ends up with no fish but yet a very happy chit chatting sessions with Jianhong

Ubin...

In this trip, Toh was in Mexico for his internship. So they start planning to go fishing after Toh came back to Singapore. And the destination to feed the fish is Pulau Ubin.

Around evening5pm, they meet up at Changi Village and went for a heavy dinner. Soon after, all packed up and went to the jetty to board the boat. Once reached there, around 6.30pm rods were being cast out into the sea. Soon after that 2 malay guy came and share the same spot with us. The malay guy might come to this place to fish frequently. Cause even the police came and talk to him for about 15 mins.

Oh well, the malay also started to fish using worms. They use a very short rod. In fact, they kept on catching fish while we had ZERo00000. Everytime we hear the bell rings, it was the mlay guy rod shaking. we had a very boring trip as we kept on looking at those malay guy rod which kept shaking.

But 1 funny thing is they caught a snapper but the fish drop while they trying to pull it up from the jetty. And Toh is trying to catch that snapper with a hook on its mouth. Haha and in the end he caught an eel. Damn it, he was so frustrated that he threw the eel away in the dustbin because eels likes to entangle themselves and suffocated.

Forgotten Kai or Kel got a GUGU fish also known as stargazer. Gugu fish also likes to swollow the entire hook and stuck in the mouth. We had no choice but to release it with the hook in the mouth.

And so everything goes as normal, taking photos of the nice morning scenery. And we need to wait for 2 hours just to get enough people to go back to Singapore mainland.

Mission Hyundai Failed

Thought of going to Hyundai because that place is infested with fishes.... Guaranteed by Toh. But the place were area blocked by the Government. We try other alternative route but to no avail. Therefore, we had to settle for a place near that site. While walking to the site, we saw a few man doing net casting and a queenie on the grass... Damn, they caught a queenie. This booast our morale; meaning this plae got big fish.

So off we go and start casting immediately. There were many people there so we had to settle near the drain. To add insult on this trip, heavy thunderstorm soon reach our destination. But luckily we had rain coat with us. Although we are still wet, But we still managed to keep 70 percent of our body dry. This time, Kai rod is moving. So Kai is trying to pull his rod and he felt a large sea monster pulling his bait so instantly that he had no time to fight back. Kai even told Toh that he can feel the fish is damn heavy. He might even lose the fight with his line burst.

Ok and soon after that, we realise that we do not have torch light. So we need to set off early and find a spot which have street light. Site after site, cast after cast. Night started to cast over the sky. Alright, lets go back. While Toh went back to the day site to fish knowing that high tide is coming soon.

That area has many bite and Toh managed to catch a catfish around the weight of 500g. Not a bad day after all and he pack up and leave.

Afternoon fishing

Finally an afternoon fishing with Kai and Toh. They went to keppel for an afternoon fishing. Toh start casting without hesitation. But soon after the cast, security guard came in and tell us to leave cause this is a private property. He tried to demoralise us by saying that there are no fishes in this area. So no choice, we had to packed up. So Toh start to reel in his line, but were stuck in the pier. So as usual, had to pull and pull.... Then came a women jogger who thought Toh got a big fish. So she kept looking at Toh pulling the line using his hand... But we already know the line were stuck. So when the line snapped, the women got a shocked and immediately continue jogging... So shameful.

So off we went to Seletar to recce... Hmm not a bad spot but the breakwater looks like we gonna had a hell time of stuck. So we started out using float again. Again, it was so boring then Toh stared out casting another rod using weight. Around 2 tries, no stuck at all. So Kai immediately use weight to fish. And the fishing goes on as usual.

Today is Kai day as he caught a sting ray around 1 kg. He told Toh to come and see what he caught. It was a small ray. So after photo taking, we try to unhook the ray, and set it off. But when unhooking, the ray started to give birth to another baby ray which is around the size of a human palm. We got a shocked and still trying to unhook the ray as fast as possible.

After unhooking, another problem occurs. How do we get the ray into the water? The rocks are slippery, So Toh got the ray on the plastic bag, and threw it hard into the sea. But the heavy wind blew it away onto the rocks. This time, Kai had no choice but to go down and save both the mother and child. Sorry Kai!!!

But soon after that, everything went ok with both ray released into the sea. Our Mission: We do not kill for the sake of fishing. We only kill for the sake of eating!!

Ok so our mission carries on until Kai bell rang hard this time. Kai pulled it out and sadly, the line stuck in the rock. So Kai had to go down again to save the fish. And this is where the funny part is.

Firstly, Kai slipper is slippery resistance like he is able to walk on the slippery rocks easily. Maybe he concentrate his chakra on his feets..... Ok so when Kai trying to remedy the line, The fish jumped out and landed on the rock, near the shore. Both Kai and Toh got a shocked. Toh threw a plastic bag to Kai so that Kai can wrap the fish around it. But the fish kept jumping and nearly hit the sea water around 10cm away. Kai had no choice but to hold the fish using the plastic bag. He doesn't know what to do. So Toh came down and help and they were able to subdue the monster. Ok.... what fish was that???? So Kai immediately did goggling on the spot and realise that this fish was called flathead. We knew that this fish was edible. Haha... ok let's bring it home. And that is the catch of the day.

Lastly, Damn the water skiier for coming so near to our fishing site. We can even hear what they were talking. This will scare the fishes away. But thanks to the coast gurad who chase them away.

Marina Bay

Because of float, Toh Kai and Kel went on to Marina Bay to test float fishing. As the breakwater are full of stone, using weight is not advisable. Therefore Kel is the first to use the float. Ok the cast is far and looks ok. So we proceed on using the float. But we had to concentrate on the line which still might get stuck on the stone.

The journey to the breakwater is rough. small pebble or stone spoil the suspension of Toh trolley. Damn it and the worst thing is the float stuck in the breakwater and the line snapped. Still can see the float and there are light indicator on the float. As the wave and wind current is strong, We had to spread ourselves out around 100m between.

kinda of boring. looking at the float movin, no one to talk to, reel in after awhile. therefore we decided to change place as it was too boring. Ok so we went to East coast 6 pipe. This is where Toh realise his trolley is spoiled. The stupid suspension sound irritates not only me but everyone on the jetty. So shameful.

Again, no catch.... we call it a day.

3rd Pasir Ris trip

The 3rd trip aslo ends up without a catch. As the tide is going up, Toh and Kel move into the secret spot where they walk along the sand which soon going to be filled up with sea water. We had to jump across the mini lake caused by the high tide. The funny part is when Kel jump across, he did not realise the sand is soft. therefore he jump across it and his body landed flat on the sand. Toh got a shocked and jump over it cautiously.

Ok destination reached. Looking for a big rock to sit on. Toh looking around the rubbish and saw a big stone. Wanted to carry the stone to where his rod is planted. Before that, he looked closely and it turns out to be a dead puffer fish. Again like the 2nd trip, He jump up high above the ground. The puffer fishs is totally bloated and looks like going to explode anytime.

Thank god he didn't touch it. But as the tide is going up, they proceed on to the break water. Of course no bite as usual. A group of China mens kept casting their rod to our side with pissed us off. They can still say sorry and still cast at our direction. Toh is annoyed and kept on cursing them.

Curse and curse, they caught a crab... Curse and curse, they got a snapper around 1.5kg using a float. Damn it. float can catch fish... till morning they caught a chaoxi.... This is where Toh and Kel packs up and go home..... Still cursing the China men

2nd Pasir Ris trip

Because of the 1st trip which spoiled our mood, Kel and Toh went on to recce the spot again on the next week. But still, there is no better route to the spot. So we went to west plaza and buy 3 pairs of rubber boots for later night. Kel is not feeling well, so he went home and rest early.

Around pm, Kel told us that he is not coming as his sickness gone from bad to worst. Well no choice Kai and Toh proceed on the the site.

As it was high tide, proceed on to the site was not easy. The high level of sea water cover the entire sand onto the grass land. So Toh started fishing at the breakwater while waiting for Kai. Toh had to carry all the equipments by himself. By the time Toh reched the breakwater, he is totally shagged out. But still he still continue fishing.

Kai came and started to fish with hstitation. The first catch came from Kai with his trademark catfish. While Toh is tying a few leaders while waiting for some fishes to answer his bell.

Then suddenly, Kai rod had a heavy pull. Kai continue to reel in the line while we saw something like water fountain kept on splitting water out. Then it came to be an octopus. Oh gosh. None of us dare to hold this monster. It's slimy, sticky and looks dangerous.

So we took around half an hour or more just to place the octopus on the barbecue pit. As toh has no impatient, he try to hold the head of the octopus, immdeiately, the octopus head stimulate. Toh had a loud cried. He jumped up high above the ground and had a weird feeling about it. And so Kai kept the octopus in the net and we carried on fishing.

So as the tide went down, Toh and Kai went into their secret spot. As usual, walk through the sand, climb a mini cliff, jump over the rocks. And they start fishing. around 7am, it's feeding time for the fishes. Kai caught a sotong which he says is heavy but no fight at all. Once the sotong reached inland, he released the hook immediately. We seperate the octopus and the sotong because in case the octopus might eat it. And it was quite a boring trip as there was totally no bite .

Tried to sell the octopus but to no avail. Too bad... better luck next time. RIP octopus.... Sorry for throwing you away..... Stupid Toh, Damn Toh.... Curse him forever.

1st Pasir Ris trip

All along these times, Toh doesn't like to go Beach fishing. Because he admit he cannot cast far into deep sea. But it started out with Kel told Toh that There is a place at Pasir Ris that is good for Kim.... Ok let's try. So Toh went to recce for the spot. Hmm, quite convincing and productive.
Ok let's do it for the night. So it started out with the 3 musketeer went on to the spot, wearing our army boots. Around 12pm, Kai met us there and off we go.

We had to walk pass the beach, across the rock, and we reached the destination. So immediately, we started to cast our rod. But the clouds looked red and evil. So we took our chance hoping it will not rain. During that period, Kai cause a catfish (his trademark fish). and the fishing goes on until Jennifer told Kai to take care because it started to rain in Siglap. Oh well let's pray for the rain not to reach our destination. But thank god, It started to rain cats and dogs. We packed our stuff immediately, and ran into the forest. Not knowing where the places are, we kept on walking and walking. Thunder and lightnings brighten our path sometimes. And our handphones kept ringing. Dun dare to answer - scared of lightning strike. So we proceed on in the forest. Around 1 hour or more later, we saw a road. Then we proceed on towards our car by walking along the route.

The day ended with no catch at all, waste of bait, mullets and sotong and soaking wet.

Third Fishing trip

In this trip, we had daffi to accompany us to the fishing site. Although Toh has went to this spot before around 2003 with his ITE friends and he caught a Chao xi. But that time, only bikes were able to go in as there were barriers in the entrance.

Now it is a so called public places for anglers. Kai went to this spot to take some photo. He sms Toh that this is a good spot for fishing where we can fish with the car parked beside us. ok let's do it.

When we reached there, heavy rainfall immediately pecked on our bodies. We had no shelter to cover. In the end, we were all drenched. But still, we do not let the rain spoiled our mood for fishing. This is where we start fishing from around 4pm till midnight. This is our catch..... Nothing much to see as we caught nothing, less the stupid cat fish and some very very small fish and a surprised.

The night ends with a guy kept talking to us about life, gym or whatever. Toh and Kai continue to fish while Daffi kepts on entertaining the man.... Lucky us....

A trip to Keppel

Kai told Toh that there is a nice place for fishing at Keppel Bay. So we took off for another fishing trip. Everything started out with parking lots available, scenery is nice and there is a no fishing sign on most area except the place where we were fishing. But we were told to pack up as this is a private property.

Around 1.30am, we left the place and went to KTM to filled our stomach before filling the fish stomach. After that we went to East Coast 6 pipe to continue our fishing for the night. Luckily we had a trolley to freed us from carry the accessories in such a long distance walk.

There is no bite from 2.30am till 6am at that time, we were looking at the clouds, and the plane flying above us thinking that it might be the end of the world for us....... whatever.

Then around 7am, Kai got a catfish. He was called the "king of catfish" by Toh because every trip, he would definitely at least 1 catchfish. Then around 7.15am, Toh took a cast and within 1 minute, he saw the rod was shaking. So he pulled the rod and started to cast as fast as he could. So the fish came onto surface, it was a flatfish.

At first we didn't know what fish it was. Toh really hate the eyes of the fish as they looked like frog so forget it. We gave the fish to an angler who just arrived the site. Until now, Toh is regret that he gave this fish to that uncle....Sigh

An all out fishing trip

With Kel expecting to join us in the next fishing trip, Kai and Toh went for some recce mission around Singapore. the mission came to an end as we chose Marina South Ferry Terminal as our next fishing trip.

As this is an all out mission for Toh, he borrowed around 3 rods and reels and in the end, he managed to cast out 7 rods into the sea but of course with the help of Kai and Kel. But the area was stone infested as many of our lines were stuck in the first throw. Within half an hour, we lost a few weights. Damn it man.... therefore we give up on this area and proceed to Labrador Park.

Carry our stuffs and accessories back to our car was like one of a hell. imagine 9 rods, 5 to 6 1'5 litres of waters, 500grams of live prawns, 3 foldable chairs and other bulky items. we were already shagged out after we reached our car.

But still we procced on to Labrador Park. Luckily the journey to the site from the carpark was near. we managed to fix our stuff and proceed on to fishing as we are already behind time from high tide.

Suddenly, one of the rod slipped on the railing and fell to the ground. Kai immediately tell Toh to reel the rod as he was standing nearest the rod. Toh pick up the rod and gave a hard pull. but there is no fight. it might be a catfish or some sea weed. But to his astonishment, it was a Spanish snapper.

After this catch, the rod became silent only for seaweeds to spoil our mood. As the tide is going down slowly, we agreed on other location. The reason is due to the low tide, protuding lots of stone in the area where our line always got stuck on it.

Well, we are not professionals. We proceed on to Lorong Halus where Toh trucks got chased by around 6 to 7 dogs. As we reached the area, none of us dare to open the door. But as the dog gave up chasing, we able to get out of the car and recce the place. The place are of full of sand flies, mosquitoes and mud so we moved on to Punggol where we start to recce a suitable place for fishing.

While we reached the destination, Kai went to pick Jennifer while Toh and Kel continue fishing. As usual, we checked on the rod and changed bait. As I were reeling in 1 of the rod, Toh felt the rod was heavy. No bite, no feeling, just heavy. Therefore he reel it in as fast as possible hoping that might be a tired fish after frequent struggled. But what he and Kel saw was a yellowish plastic thingy.... thought was a plastic bag but no it's moving, it's a lobster... And no, it's a crayfish..... And fially, when the thingy was inland, what in the hell was that, A few anglers came and tell me that this thingy can be eaten.

And when Kai came back with Jennifer, Many of us couldn't believe what that thingy was. But Kai managed to find out that it was a Lobster, crayfish family known as Mantis Shrimp. We had a fun but tiring night and day. Let the picture do the talking.

2nd trip in New Year eve 2007

Another day of fishing trips which also went fruitless. Toh realised he do not have enough weights after got his line broke off many times, he drove all the way to Changi V just to buy sufficient weights for this trip. Toh and Daffi met a guy who talks and gave us some tips about fishing. Although this irritates me and my mood in fishing, but the picture in his handphone showing a few big catchs turns me on. He gave us some bait before he leave and therefore we had to stay longer to finish up the bait.

Jinyu and Kai arrived around 8 to 9pm and this is where we start to focus on fishing. In fact there were around 20 over anglers which cramp on the 20 meters alley. As we used up our baits, we returned home without any catch.

First trip since 2001

Its been a long time since we went fishing. well... due to our commitment to the school, jobs and national service, we finally managed to find time for our first fishing adventure since 2001.

During Christmas day 2007 The thought of fishing came right into our mind when Jinyu said he feel like fishing. This leisure immediately shot through Toh brain. the excitement of reeling and fighting against the sea monster.

The very next day, Toh brought Jinyu to Changi village to buy a rod and a reel. To Jinyu, a rod is a rod, it doesn't have to be expensive since is was only for leisure. Therefore he bought a fishing rod with reel cost only about 27 dollars if i'm not wrong. At the same day, Jinyu and Toh went to a few places for recce mission, bashing through those bushes and shrubs and finally set a sight on a site which looks productive for big fishes which is Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

The next day, Toh and Jinyu set off early morning to catch the high tide and did some fishing. Toh and Jinyu have a difficult tying the fishing line because it's been a long time since they does it and forgotten how to do it. But somehow, Toh remember how to tie the knot and they start fishing after nearly 1 hour.

Kai and Daffi came later in the afternoon as the excitement of fishing also runs through their brain. But this excitement doesn't last for long because our line always got stuck on the rock and and lost a few of our weight.

That's it. Our very first trip ends up without a catch although 2 or 3 crabs which we released unharm.
